We're on the lookout for a Carbon Accounting Specialist with hands-on experience in gas (GHG) emissions measurement and management to join our growing team supporting Ecologi’s customers. Ecologi Zero is a powerful software platform we’ve designed to help companies measure, reduce, and report their GHG emissions. As more businesses turn to Ecologi for their climate strategy needs, we have a brilliant opportunity to join our team to support our customers on their climate journeys. If you have experience in corporate carbon accounting – perhaps through sustainability consulting in a corporate environment, working within an in-house sustainability team or working for another climate-tech startup – we'd love to hear from you. In this role, you'll work directly with our clients, helping them calculate, understand, and report their GHG emissions as they embark on their journey to decarbonise their operations.

  • As a Climate Account Specialist, you'll guide and deliver vital gas (GHG) accounting work across our diverse client portfolio. You'll empower organisations with the services and insights needed to thoughtfully calculate, monitor, set meaningful targets for, and ultimately reduce their GHG emissions.

Requirements:

  • Foundational Climate & Sustainability Knowledge: A deep understanding of climate change science, gas emissions, and corporate sustainability matters. This includes the nuances of emissions measurement, applying the mitigation hierarchy, setting science-based targets, developing effective decarbonisation strategies, and understanding the regulatory and voluntary landscape of corporate carbon management.

  • Deep GHG Accounting Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of GHG accounting principles and frameworks across Scopes 1, 2, and 3. Familiarity with a broad range of corporate GHG accounting frameworks (GHG Protocol and ISO 14064) and associated standards and requirements relevant to UK businesses, such as SECR, SBTi, TCFD, and PPN 06/21. A strong proficiency in various calculation methods and approaches, coupled with an understanding of the complexities and considerations for businesses committed to climate action.

  • Proven Practical Application: At least 3 years of experience directly working with emissions data and guiding companies in reducing their environmental impact – encompassing emissions calculation, reporting, and the development of decarbonisation strategies.

  • Strong Data & Analytical Acumen: Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, with the ability to organise, analyse, and synthesise intricate datasets, alongside a comfort in utilising diverse software products and databases. Confidence in researching, interpreting, and applying insights from academic research and complex technical documentation in your work.

  • Exceptional Client Engagement & Guidance Skills: A keen ability to understand client needs empathetically and guide customers towards impactful solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the capacity to articulate complex topics clearly to both technical experts and those new to the field.

Responsibilities:

  • GHG Accounting Leadership: You'll coordinate and expertly deliver technical GHG accounting projects across various client engagements. Your guidance will be key in assisting clients with the crucial steps of GHG management.

  • Insightful Report Development & Communication: You'll craft detailed client reports that align with relevant standards and regulations, ranging from straightforward SECR and PPN 06/21 Carbon Reduction Plans to comprehensive, enterprise-level full scope GHG inventory reporting. You'll also lend your voice and expertise to whitepapers, methodology documentation, and contribute to creating accessible reports and educational resources for our customers.

  • Nurturing Client Relationships & Providing Guidance: You'll support clients throughout their journey with us, from initial onboarding to the delivery of their GHG inventories. You'll offer thoughtful recommendations for targeted emissions reduction strategies, acting as a trusted advisor.

  • Contributing to Product Evolution: Your insights will shape the development of the Ecologi Zero emissions calculation tool. You'll gather and share valuable customer feedback and offer your subject matter expertise to support our Product Managers in prioritising software functions and features.

  • Fostering Internal Collaboration: You'll proactively contribute to the Impact team's objectives, collaborating with our Carbon Accounting team and our experienced Climate Strategy leaders. You'll also connect with colleagues involved in climate funding and nature restoration to shape our holistic, science-aligned services. Your effective collaboration with Product & Engineering, Commercial, Marketing, and Brand teams will be crucial in continuously developing client-centric products, services, and content.
