We're on the lookout for a knowledgeable Carbon Accounting Analyst with hands-on experience in gas (GHG) emissions measurement and management to join our growing team supporting Ecologi’s customers. Ecologi Zero is a powerful software platform we’ve designed to help companies measure, reduce, and report their GHG emissions. As more businesses turn to Ecologi for their climate strategy needs, we have a brilliant opportunity to join our team to support our customers on their climate journeys. If you have commercial experience in corporate carbon accounting – perhaps through sustainability consulting in a corporate environment, working within an in-house sustainability team or working for another climate-tech startup – we'd love to hear from you. In this role, you'll work directly with our clients, helping them calculate, understand, and report their GHG emissions as they embark on their journey to decarbonise their operations.

As a Carbon Account Analyst, you'll guide and deliver vital gas (GHG) accounting work across our diverse client portfolio. You'll empower organisations with the services and insights needed to thoughtfully calculate, monitor, set meaningful targets for, and ultimately reduce their GHG emissions.
Requirements:
- Climate science and corporate sustainability knowledge: a detailed understanding of climate change mechanics, gas emissions, and corporate sustainability issues, including measuring emissions, applying the mitigation hierarchy, setting science-based targets, developing decarbonisation strategies and understanding regulatory and non-regulatory drivers of corporate carbon management.
- GHG accounting expertise: a good knowledge of GHG accounting principles and frameworks across Scopes 1, 2, and 3. Familiar with a wide range of corporate GHG accounting frameworks (GHG Protocol and ISO 14064) and associated standards and requirements relevant to UK businesses, such as SECR, SBTi, TCFD and PPN 06/21. A high level of proficiency in different calculation methods and approaches, and a good understanding of the challenges and trade-offs relevant to businesses intending to take climate action.
- Practical experience: a minimum of 1 years of experience working with emissions data and helping companies reduce their environmental impact – including emissions calculation, reporting and decarbonisation strategy development.
- Data and research literacy: highly proficient in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets with the ability to aggregate, analyse, and summarise complex datasets, as well as leveraging a wide variety of software products/databases. Confident in seeking out, understanding, and applying knowledge from academic research and complex technical documentation to your work.
- Consultative and client-facing skills: exceptional acuity for understanding client needs and guiding customers to effective solutions. Top-tier verbal and written communication abilities, including the ability to explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities:
- gas accounting: Support and deliver technical GHG accounting work across multiple client accounts, providing services and advice to assist clients in the calculation, monitoring, target-setting, and reduction of their GHG emissions.
- Report development and communication: produce detailed client reports aligned with the relevant standards and regulations, from simple SECR, and PPN 06/21 Carbon Reduction Plans to enterprise level full scope GHG inventory reporting. Comment on and contribute to whitepapers, methodology documentation, and support delivery of reports and educational materials for customers.
- Client engagement and advisory: support clients through their customer journey from onboarding through to delivery of GHG inventories, and provide recommendations for targeted emissions reduction activities.
- Product development: contribute to the development of the Ecologi Zero emissions calculation tool. Collect and share customer feedback and provide subject matter expertise to support our Product Managers in prioritising functions and features of the software product to enhance its calculation accuracy, usability and efficiency. You’ll be integrated within the Ecologi Zero product development team, collaborating closely with Commercial, Brand, Engineering and our Product Managers on the future of the software product.
- Internal stakeholder collaboration: proactively contribute to the goals of the Impact team, working alongside our Carbon Accounting Specialists, with our experienced Climate Strategy leaders and liaising with colleagues involved in climate funding and nature restoration to develop our end to end science aligned services. Collaborate effectively with Product & Engineering, Commercial, Marketing and Brand teams to constantly develop products, services, and content that meet client needs.
