Role Description
We are seeking an ambitious Financial Accountant to join our growing Controllership team at Low Carbonβs London head office. The Controllership team plays a critical role within Finance, using specialist knowledge of our business and industry to drive meaningful insights across the company.
We are open to candidates who are qualified, or working towards their qualifications. The responsibilities will vary depending on the candidateβs level of competence.
The Financial Accountant will have exposure to a wide array of responsibilities; covering financial elements for the development, construction and operations of large-scale renewable projects. The successful candidate will work closely with numerous colleagues across Finance and other teams within the business, and will be uniquely placed to contribute to a variety of workstreams within a dynamic company.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and evaluation of key monthly deliverables including group consolidations, variance analysis and reporting dashboards
- Assist with updating, improving and implementing procedures for the Finance team
- Oversee relationships with numerous global Service Providers, ensuring deliverables are met in line with SLAs
- Liaising with external partners, including auditors and providers of debt finance
- Support with controls compliance and other internal controls requirements
- Apply technical accounting and regulatory knowledge to the preparation of transaction documentation and technical memos
- Preparation of statutory financial statements and contribution towards audit process
- Assist with a variety of ad hoc projects, including group transactions / restructures, profitability analysis, financial model reviews and technology improvements
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Collaborate with the treasury team, ensuring funding requirements across the group are being met
Person Specification
- A confident and effective communicator, capable of presenting complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Strong technical knowledge, with practical experience applying FRS 102 or IFRS
- Understanding of non-UK European local GAAPs is also desirable
- A positive attitude and collaborative working style, with the ability to build close relationships with colleagues and service providers
- Proactive and self-driven, with proven ability to take initiative and solve problems independently
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple deliverables
- A desire to learn and a mindset focused on continuous improvement
- Comfortable with financial systems and technology, with an interest in automating processes and streamlining reporting
Skills & Experience
- Qualified or part qualified accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience
- Extensive experience in reviewing and analysing management accounts and preparation of group consolidations
- Exposure to accounting and reporting for multi-currency, multi-jurisdiction groups
- Ability to analysis financial data, identify trends and provide actionable insights to support decision-making
- Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and best practices
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience working with an SPV structure within Renewable Energy, Infrastructure, or similar industry (desirable)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment, with ability to adapt to new challenges and changing business needs
