Investment Associate - Systemiq Capital

Systemiq Capital is differentiated from other VC firms in its networks and knowledge. Our sister company, Systemiq, is a leading climate consultancy with over 400 people advising leading corporates and industry coalitions in their sustainable transition towards a net zero world. • Thought leadership & network-building: Strengthen your niche around a climatetech theme and begin to distinguish yourself as a climate tech leader internationally. You will build meaningful relationships with founders, Systemiq, co-investors, accelerators and technical advisors that can amplify your work. You will conduct proprietary research and synthesize the startup landscape, market trends, and investment opportunities to share within the team and beyond.
• Deal generation: Build a high-quality pipeline of exceptional founders on a journey to raise a Series A. Your sourcing will focus on Europe and/or North America.
• Deal execution: Be the firepower in executing deals from end-to-end with the support of Principals and Partner. This includes modelling investment returns, drafting investment committee memos, preparing / reviewing draft term sheets, assessing the impact of investments, etc.
• Portfolio management: Stay abreast of portfolio company progress and support senior team members in providing multifaceted support to founders. Bridge insights and networks from our sister company Systemiq and beyond.
• Work closely with a dynamic and values-aligned team with diversity in thought and experience.
• Have fun!

• 4+ years work experience or can prove you have sufficient work experience to bring a mature and nuanced mindset to the role.
• Of these, at least 2 years investing or operating in startup or scaleup companies. 
• Strong networks with startups in Europe and/or North America.
• A demonstrated interest in scaling software – or software-enabled – companies (i.e. not exclusively capex-intensive models). 
• Demonstrated passion for climatetech investing

• Have an entrepreneurial mindset: you can wear many hats and succeed in ambiguous
  situations. You are intellectually and operationally independent, with proven ability to own and drive work with limited oversight.
• Deal Sourcing Spike: You excel at building a strong network in the climate tech space, quickly forming meaningful relationships with founders, VCs, and industry leaders.
• Insatiably curious: You are fascinated to understand how technologies work and how they can be leveraged to deliver climate impact.
• Intellectually honest: you aren’t afraid to express your thoughts, or to change these when you receive further information. You are interested in others’ perspectives.
• Embrace a team spirit: You are excited to work with a small team to build a world-class VC firm together over the long-term. 
• Passionate about returns-driven climate investing: you believe that the main way a startup delivers climate impact is by achieving massive commercial success.

• Salary range: up to £100,000 (depending on seniority) + discretionary bonus
• Location: London (preferred) or Europe.
• Unfortunately, we do not sponsor visas, so please ensure that you have the right to work in your country of residence for at least 5 years from applying.

Interview process

We expect to fill the role as soon as possible. The process includes a series of interviews with the team, and a case study. We expect to make our final decision before the end of November 2024.
