We are looking for a Client Accountant to join the divisional finance team which consists of a Finance Director, Financial Controller and a Client Accountant. This is a commercially focused role and a great opportunity to build and further develop strong commercial and business partnering experience. Ideally you will be studying towards a qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA (study support is available) and have experience in a media/marketing/advertising agency already.

As a Client Accountant you will be responsible for all aspects of client finance such as revenue forecasting and recognition, job management throughout the life cycle including WIP reconciliation, support to client services on job related matters , SOW reviews and recoverability/profitability analysis, reviews and management.  

As well as supporting the FC on commercial and management reporting and working capital, the role requires strong organisational, analytical and communication skills. You will work closely with client services where strong bonds and working relationships will be essential.

This is a hybrid role and our offices are based in Soho, London.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

Key Duties

Revenue:

  • Hold regular revenue meetings, review time vs revenue, add commentary on revenue movements and time variances.
  • Support CS team on scoping , SOW reviews.
  • Monthly Recoverability review meetings, take minutes and send to client services teams with agreed actions.
  • Weekly Time reports review and send to CS teams. Time movements between jobs.
  • Revenue posting in Workbook, reconciliation of revenue trackers with actuals, preparation of accrued/deferred revenue schedules.
  • Oversee, assist and approve billings.
  • Client set ups support.

Commercial Reporting:

  • Monthly Commercial reporting for the division (Utilisation or Client profitability – responsibility for 1 report).
  • Timesheets completion review.
  • Support FC /FD with Resource Forecasting.
  • Ad hoc commercial reporting.

Job Management:

  • WIP management and analysis to ensure that all third party costs are billed on a timely basis, costs from the suppliers are on the correct jobs and that WIP jobs are reconciled and cleared down.
  • Monitor and reconcile estimated vs actual 3rd party costs per project, flagging overspends as soon as they occur.
  • Hold regular WIP meetings with client services teams. Take minutes and send to client services teams for confirmation together with the actions.
  • Check price quotes in Workbook are correct and backup (client approvals & PO's) for jobs is saved.
  • Review open PO's and advise client services teams to close where appropriate.
  • Allocation of pass through 3rd party costs.
  • Manage debit WIP that it is not older than 30 days.

Working Capital

  • Support when requested Shared Services in resolution of ad hoc queries on credit cards/vendors.
  • Review payment runs with commentary for FC approval.
  • AP aging ledger review with Shared Services.
  • Ad-hoc payment support.
  • Debtors review with Credit Controller and support on queries on items older than 30 days.
  • Raise invoices for intercompany recharges.

Month End support

  • Maintain costs trackers ( subscriptions, T/E /Recruitment budgets).
  • Weekly freelance tracker updates.
  • Reporting templates update with actuals.
  • Forecast template update for submission to the Group.
  • Month end pack update for submission to the Group.
  • Studying towards professional qualification ( ACCA, CIMA, ACA, etc)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Agency experience will be a significant advantage
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Pro-active and solutions focused attitude
